On Wednesday evening, May 27th, the Language Centre of Tsinghua University held an English Corner on the theme of “Growth Mindset”, in which around 20 participants from several different schools gathered to share experiences and tips in a lively discussion-based event.
The event was divided into two sections: it began by defining “growth mindset” before introducing a series of relevant strategies and techniques for personal growth and development, including concepts like failing fast, habit formation, incrementalism, and talent stacking, which the students were then able to apply to their own academic, career, and personal goals through group discussions.
In the second half of the event, students learned how to discuss challenges, difficulties, and setbacks in settings such as job interviews, reflecting on their lives in order to show self-awareness, self-improvement, and personal growth. The students then gathered into groups in order to share their experiences with partners, thinking of ways that each member could apply the different techniques in order to better present themselves in different settings.
