English for PhD Students is an academic English course designed to meet the diverse needs of PhD candidates. The course consists of 2 teaching hours per week, totaling 32 hours over the semester. It aims to broaden students’ international academic horizons and enhance their practical skills in using English for academic purposes—such as delivering presentations at international conferences, participating in scholarly exchanges, and writing academic papers in English for journals or conference proceedings.

Upon course completion, students will be able to effectively use a range of English expressions and rhetorical strategies for academic communication across various settings. They will develop proficiency in writing academic papers in English, demonstrating well-reasoned arguments, clear structure, logical coherence, and reliable conclusions, with language that is fluent, accurate, and appropriately formal.

To better address students’ individual language backgrounds and academic goals, the course offers three specialized tracks:

(A) Writing and Publishing English Academic Papers,

(B) Presenting at International Conferences.

(C) Comprehensive academic English
