Courses in Comprehensive English are designed to strengthen students’ overall English proficiency, with an emphasis on integrated skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking within the contexts of academic study and international communication.
This course cluster is a core requirement of the undergraduate public foreign language curriculum. It is offered at three proficiency levels—Level A, Level B, and Level C—each consisting of two courses, with 2 credits per course. Based on their test results on entry, students enroll in the appropriate level and are required to complete 4 credits in total. Students in Levels A and B must take one course focused on listening and speaking, and one focused on reading and writing.
Students are encouraged to complete this course cluster during their first year of study. The credits earned will count toward their total public foreign language credits.
