Course Description:

English for Master's Students is a compulsory degree course for master’s students offered by LCTU. The course consists of 2 teaching hours per week, total 32 hours and 2 credits. Each semester, approximately 20 classes are offered, with each class accommodating up to 35 students.

Based on students’ English proficiency and academic needs, the course is divided into three tracks: (A) Research Article Reading and Writing, (B) International Academic Communication and, and (C) Comprehensive Academic English.

The course aims to enhance students’ abilities in reading and reviewing English academic literature, writing academic papers in English, and engaging in international academic communication. In addition to improving academic English proficiency, the course emphasizes the development of a global perspective and a sense of social responsibility. It aims to build students’ confidence and competence in cross-cultural academic settings and support their growth into globally competent professionals.

In 2024, this course was recognized as a Tsinghua University Excellent Course. The course coordinator is Dr. Dong Yanning.
